Semmelweis CEE Conference: Preparations are running at full speed!

0

Our preparations for the Semmelweis CEE Conference on Hospital Hygiene and Patient Safety (March 7th and 8th, Budapest) are running at full speed. We are looking forward to welcoming both international hygiene-experts (Didier Pittet, Petra Gastmeier , Andreas Voss ..) and many executives from the CEE region (Vasily Akimkin, Pawel Grzesiowski, Alexander Rafila ..). “What we really wish for our 2nd Conference: lively discussions during our workshops, lectures and panel discussions”, says Dr. Bernhard Küenburg, President of the Semmelweis Foundation. “And we are glad to become an insight in the perspective of the healthcare workers, who play a key role in the fight against HAI and AMR.” Mr. Noel Abela from the University of Malta will present an impulse speech about the role of the healthcare worker in preventing infections and communicating the message to the patient. His speech will be followed by a promising discussion with the title: “Health care workers are the best multipliers for infection prevention! But do they get enough say on what is efficient and feasible?” With him will discuss Andrea Moldovan, Sergiu Singeorzan and Didier Pittet (director of the Infection Control Programme and WHO Collaborating Centre on Patient Safety, University Hospital of Geneva), who supports the Semmelweis Foundation since its very beginnings.  For him a conference, focused on the CEE region is very important, because „health care associated infections pose a problem all over the world, especially in the eastern part of Europe. There are isolated initiatives in the CEE region, but little really effective measures and little mutual exchange.“
