Viktorija Tomic

I was born on 26 February 1958 in Brežice, Slovenia. I studied at University of Ljubljana – Medical Faculty and got my MD diploma in 1993. I finished specialisation in clinical microbiology in 1999. I got Masterts Degree in 2005 and in 2008 successfully defended my PhD thesis (Comprehensive strategy to prevent spread of MRSA). After finishing Medical Faculty I started to work at University Clinic of Respiratory and Allergic Diseases Golnik, Slovenia. I became head of the Laboratory for Respiratory Microbiology at the Clinic Golnik in 1999 and head of the Infection Control Team in 2001. I was vice-president of National Infection Control and Prevention Committee from 2003 until 2010 when I became the president of the aforementioned committee. At present I’m still holding all the positions mentioned above and additionally act as infection control specialist in 3 nursing homes.
